I've built a motor decoder, but can't complete the setup. When programming with PICkit3 the EEPROM data is initially all FF. When I read the contents back it changes to 00 14 01 01 C8 00 00 02 14 which is presumably the initial CV setup. However when I put the decoder onto the programming track it acknowledges ack OK (MERG kit) and gives CV1 as 255. When I change CV1 to 6 (as you suggest) I once again get ack OK however when I immediately read CV1 it is still 255, and wont work with address 6. Returning the chip (12F629) to the PICkit shows that the EEPROM contents are unchanged. I would welcome suggestions: I am able to program commercial decoders without problems using my programming track.
