Hi, my name is Howard and I am retired 70+ living the the crazy US of A, I am attempting to build two layouts as economically as possible, after being absent from the model railroad hobby for over forty years. Layout #1 will be for my neighbor's children, a single parent with one is a five year old autistic boy and his seven year old sister. The boy with autism, seem to respond and become extremely engaged with the test track I have set up. This layout will be DC controlled with two power packs. I hope to get some useful suggestions. As for layout #2 which is for me, I am leaning towards DCC and looking for ideas for cheap DIY systems. Just about all of my locomotives are of the early 70's to 80's generation by Tyco, Bachmann, Athearn and an unknown. In all there are 8 locomotives and two have motorized B units, most are in need of repair after the long storage and moving damage. I have downloaded the files from this site and will try to build the units. Once again any suggestions will be happily received.

Hi Howard
I am not familiar with the locos that you have, but if you have room inside for the decoders they should work fine.
