I do try to make it a point as a matter of politeness to introduce myself as I join a forum. I look around and see that this forum has suffered from lack of use since December 2014. I hope that trend reverses itself soon though. I am semi retired from electronics engineering. That that means is I do limited contract engineering for others and lots of it for my own projects. I have a vast amount of experience in programming PIC chips using high level languages like C or BASIC. OK, BASIC may not be considered a true high level language but it makes life a bit easier than assembler. For me, anyway. I have uses a great number of C and BASIC compilers over the years and have settled on MikroC Pro and MikroBasic for the maximum flexibility and cost. The initial cost of the compilers for the pro version is moderate with free upgrades. Both come in a free version with limited code lines allowed. Since I write articles in their use, I have yet to run up against the limits in either for any moderate project. Give them a try if you are curious. www.mikroelektronika.com - just download the full version and don't worry about a key. Works up to 2000 lines of code. So there you have it. I live in Connecticut in the USA and am a member of MERG (http://www.merg.org.uk). I most highly recommend you join MERG and learn about another method of control known as CBus. Not to replace DCC, but to enhance it.
