Could a JMRI/DecoderPro user who has also got a DIY Accessory Decoder please download this file and try it. Once un-zipped, the command "import decoder file" on the "debug" menu will pull it into JMRI. The Decoder should be offered on the Service Mode programmer, under "Public Domain and DIY". ( There is insufficient data in the file for JMRI to "identify" the decoder automatically). I recommend "Comprehensive" mode for viewing the decoder. I'd like to know if the panes provided make sense for the two addressing modes, and the difference in decoder addresses between command station makers - Paul uses the terms "Roco" and "Lenz" to distinguish these. - Nigel Attachments:

Hello Nigel, Just got around to trying your JMRI file. It installed ok and I found the right decoder definition. I chose the eight output one as that's what I've built. I'm using a SprogII as my interface. I read your discussion with Paul re. addressing modes, but couldn't decide whether it is Lenz mode or Merg mode. Any way I tried Decoder addressing mode and having set it to address 4, used Decoderpro to set turnouts. I couldn't get any to change. I went to Output address mode and set address to 5. I could then get Turnouts 1 - 4 to change decoder outputs 1 - 8. They turned on but would not turn off. I have to power down to get them off again. I've attached a table showing what happened. I left all the page settings at default except the address, so perhaps its one of those? Any ideas? Regards, John Hare edit: Further info: Just unset toggle mode for 1 & 2 - wrote changes - toggle now works on 3/4, 5/6, 7/8 but NOT on 1/2. Reset toggle mode for 1/2 - wrote changes - now toggle works on ALL. Curiouser and Curiouser!! John Attachments:

Hello Paul - great function & accessory decoders, they are/will be very useful, many thanks for taking time & make public these devices. I have downloaded the decoder file & imported it into JMRI, accessing via Sprog II. The file imported ok but its a little hit and miss as to the address mode to use, I also found that I had to "write all sheets" rather than just modify a single CV to get reliable results. I have not managed to "Read" a decoder yet, as I can't figure out the proper load arrangement to enable a read, if you could shed a little light on that it would be appreciated. George
I am not a decoderpro user, so I can not help you with anything JMRI related.
I suspect that the reading is a bit flaky for some reason that I still have not got to the bottom of. Unfortunately I have only limited capability to test reading at the moment.

Hello Paul, thanks for reply, I suppose the question is really a "loading" one. At the moment I have a set of leds directly on the outputs of the pic chip (via resistors). They default to lit & flash when I write to the decoder. What I will try is inverting & increasing the load (via a transistor) so they flash to "lit" rather than unlit. I will let you know how I go on. Cheers George www.bahamas45596.co.uk
